Level 1 Award in Dog Handling Safety

Introduction

The NASDU National Award in Dog Handling Safety aims to provide the learner with basic skills, knowledge and understanding in the safe handling and care of dogs.

For whom suitable

The programme meets the requirements of civilian dog owners requiring basic safe handling techniques, Of particular interest to Dog Walkers, Kennel Staff, Veterinary Assistants, Pet Dog Trainers. In fact anyone who requires a more in depth knowledge of dog handling and management, supported by a credible acknowledged qualification.

Awarding Body

NASDU - National Association of Security Dog Users. Also acknowledged by HABC as providing Level 2 underpinning knowledge.

Course Duration

Training would be delivered over a number of days and would be of sufficient duration to ensure competency, having a minimum of 15 Guided Learning Hours (GLH).

Programme Structure

The programme is a mixture of theory and practical tuition and is made up of 3 compulsory units.

Certification

NASDU certification shall be for the handler and dog as a team.
